I did not always agree with his methods, or some of the words to come out of his mouth. But I have no doubt Jerry will be spending his first night of eternity face to face with Jesus. Thank you for your service Mr. Falwell. You can read about his faith here.

You know, I didn’t always agree with him. Sometimes I cringed at the things I heard him say.
Yet I’m saddened today to hear of his passing.
Whether or not we agreed all the time, I can say that he was a man who wasn’t ashamed to speak about Jesus or his faith.

I didn’t agree with him all the time either, and there were times things he said made me cringe and wonder what he was thinking, but I always felt that he believed he was trying to spread the word of Jesus. I was sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.
The school he started has produce many strong Godly young people.
It is sad that most of the people talking on the news media are only talking about the wild things he said.
I guess we could all stand to remember that we must be careful how we present our Lord to the world.
My husband and I met at Liberty University and I have to say that although the news keeps talking about his legacy being the whole “Moral Majority” thing, I disagree. LU is a fantastic school, and Dr. Falwell was really a man of vision and passion who cared about those kids and loved God deeply. His legacy lies in the lives he touched. Yes, I sometimes cringed too at how he expressed things, but I don’t doubt that he was seeking to serve God in all things.
Please keep his wife and family in your prayers. He will be missed.
Exactly, Laurel. I’ve been struggling with how I felt about him since I found out he passed away yesterday. And you just said if for me. I didn’t agree with him sometimes but I know he was Godly man and like you, I have no doubt he is sitting at the throne.
His passing feels a little like the end of an era, doesn’t it?
I had to chuckle a little this a.m. reading the news about his death. They said, “Jerry Falwell said just 2 weeks ago he was ready to meet His Maker”. It was printed as if he had some kind of psychic premonition when the context was in a message about his relationship with God. The world just doesn’t get it!
I’m ready to meet my Maker too, I just hope it isn’t next week!
I have never heard about him until yesterday on the Christian news radio. I am sorry that I am so uninformed. I guess I will have read up on him. Is it true that he is related to Jerry Lewis?
Have a blessed day, my friend.
I think you said it very well Laurel. I am sure we will never all agree on everything and that’s okay - as long as we all believe the truth about who Jesus is and what He did for us. I felt sad hearing the news. I think he was very courageous and accomplished many things for the Lord.
You are sooooo right. Isn’t it wonderful to know for sure where you will spend eternity!!! Praise God.
Never heard of Wordfilled Wednesdays ~ I’ll head over a check it out.
Thanks for the b’day wishes.
BLESSINS!
I saw that same headline about him being ready to meet his maker…it was made to sound like some trashy rag magazine headline or something.. really sad! I didn’t always agree with him either, but Liberty U has been a wonderful asset to our country and the “kingdom” and for that I will always be grateful!
And Laurel, can I just tell you,..I love your blog. You are always uplifting and even when I feel just blah I can walk away from your blog feeling a little better! Thank you for that! Love you girl!
He might have been controversial but he was most definately a man of God, by all visable accounts.
What amazes me is when the media takes this and runs with it saying things like “just two weeks ago he told his congregation he had made peace with death!” They seem SHOCKED by this.
A man of God doesn’t fear death itself because we know it is not th end.
