When your day begins with a nice friendly chat with Mr. Police officer there is only one way to go….down!

It is suppose to be over the hump day. On my way to taking youngest son to school Mr. Nice Police Officer stopped me. I guess both of my tail lights were burned out (which I did not know so thankyouverymuch ).

So after he researched my family history, took a blood test, did a criminal background history (why yes officer I do have a brother who is a cop, and I should know better than driving with no tail lights), he wrote me a warning and told me to go straight to the dealership.

I showed up at the dealership thinking I will be an hour late or so going into work, but it turns out it will be a half of day process. So I have the dealership’s courtesy vehicle drive me to work. They drop me off and as I begin to walk into my building I realize I left my office keys at the dealership…on my keychain. I am the only one who works in my office and it is locked.

So I sit out side my office until I can get ahold of manly man (by the way when you sit on cold concrete your behind freezes, just thought I would let ya’ll know this in case you too get locked out of your office. It was cold outside). Just as I begin to think I need to walk the 3 miles home, manly man calls me back. He tells me to walk to his office (which is three blocks away) and sit there until he is done with a meeting.

So I sit and wait, then manly man drives me back to the dealership to get my office keys (insert much frustration in both of us. In all honesty manly man was nice, maybe it was due to the fact he saw my face already puffy from the crying and my butt looked frozen). The dealership said there is an electrical shortage, so they are fixing that also. Can someone please tell me why when you take your car in they always finds tons more wrong with it. And why it never falls on a payday…NEVER!

What a start to a day. I am already worn out and it is only 10 AM. Can I go back to bed and hit “restart” somewhere?

Found your blog today…precious twins.
And OK!! If you get a restart button please tell the rest of us how to get one!! :)
I know what you mean. Our car is in the shop right now. New Engine. $3500 UM, sorry, we just spent all of our money on Christmas presents!?
Well, hope they get it all worked out! Have a better day! :)

It makes me sad to get a mental image of you sitting on those cold steps, crying. What a rotten way to start a day.

Does this mean Florida is actually getting some winter? Cold steps?

I hate days like that–our last two weeks have run along those lines but they are more focused around things breaking at home (like our vacuum cleaner, the garage door, my blog, you name it. :)) But yeah, I hate those. Good thing the Lord has a plan for them. :)

Wait, wait, wait… You’re having that kind of day and manly man is still checking out your butt? Sheesh… men!

Hopefully today was the beginning of a restart. A restart to say “God, I know you’re were teaching me something… Patience? Dependence on you? How to keep from thinking all sorts of unmentionable words in trials? Appreciation for having a car and finances to keep it or getting a warning only or finding out that the brake lights were out via nice policeman rather than through an accident? But right now, I just need a hug from you. Then I can learn what you want to teach me.”

He sent me to give you one via the net today. Although you’re suffering, this too shall pass and you’ll see how God is good in all things, even car struggles and locked offices. How do I know? I had that kind of day on Tuesday and by that evening, He was showing me his goodness time and time again.

Love you Lori!!!

How I wish for a re-start button. For everytime that our days get all messed up…but, sorry Laurel….couldn’t help but laugh at your description. The only thing I can think of to encourage you at a time like this one was….it is better dealt with now…than some “electronic” gizmo leaving you stranded in God only knows where…I want you safe! And #2….it gave you something to blog about! (slight *grin*)
I love you!

o gracious! Yes, I vote you can hit the restart button. Like we say in my family, “DO OVER, DO OVER!”

We have “do overs” some mornings…sounds like this is a day that could have used one!

What a story, I love your humor in the midst of frustration though, I could chuckle with you (afterwards of course!!)
