Whats the Shape of Your Faith-Style - biblical-message

Better late then never is my philosophy.Heather asks us this week “What is your style?” This is a tough week to answer some of these, but maybe that is God’s plan.

How do you tend to go about things and how does that affect how you obey, worship, and love God?

I usually jump in with all my feet. If things are going good then life is good. If things get rocky I panic. I wonder what I did wrong and it does affect my worship, but not my love of God. My panic can sometimes turn into “why me”, “this always happens to me” pity party. Then pity party can lead to me “tattling to God what is wrong in my life”. The tattling usually leads me to open God’s word because I feel like I am now in a pit, and for heavens sake HOW DID I GET HERE? Oh Lord, I am tired of this roller coaster; I just want to serve you. Do you see a cycle here, I do too and I am not to particularly proud of it.

Are you a go-getter or laid back?

I use to be a go-getter, but now that my kids are getting so busy I am more laid back. I wanted to serve and do a lot of things in the church, and I still do some. But I one thing, for me, that I realized is that I need to be there for my kids right now. Even though I might be doing something worthy like teaching a bible study, it still takes time away from my kids. So I have put that part on hold right now, and let my kids be active in church, and me enjoy this time in their life. I know some people can do both at the same time, but with my kids ages, it just did not work for me.

Do you keep it simple or do you go all out?

I am a simple, but like it looking pretty type of gal. I like creativity, but so many other women put me to shame.

Do you finish what you start or leave it for someone else?

I am guilty of both.

Do you like the best laid plans or prefer to wing-it?

BEST LAID PLANS. I so freak out in “winging it”. But this is where God comes in and shakes me up, he knows how much I like things organized and many times he puts me in situations where they are NOT organized.

Do you like to be different, to stand out in the crowd?

No not really, I just like to make a difference in what ever I am doing.

Do you prefer to go about unseen, be like everyone else?

No I like to be in the middle of “stand out” and “unseen” I don’t like all the attention focused on me (that is what nightmares are made of), but I don’t go unseen either (my voice is usually to loud, just kidding).

Do you prefer the unusual or the normal, the intellectual or action?

Normal and action is what I prefer. I hate just sitting still, but God has been working on me with that.

Are you a doer or a dreamer?

Dreamer, I struggle with the “doer” part.

Are you a follower or rebellious?

Follower for the most part, but I have no trouble speaking up or going a different way if I don’t agree.

Do you diminish yourself or do you struggle with pride?

I struggle with pride. But even diminishing yourself can be a source of pride.

Are you old fashioned or do you like all things new?

Both, absolutely both!

Do like things the same or do you prefer change?

I do like change, but not constantly.

Are you very open about your life or are you more secretive and careful?

Fairly open, except for a few things I only tell my close friends.

Last of all, how does your personal style affect your relationship with Him?

Now this is the hardest question of all. I believe my insecurities of “stepping out” get in the way many times. God has to litterally push me out, I am ashamed to say. But when I do move forward I am so blessed, and revved up. I like to stay in my comfort zone and just learn more about Him, I would like to just climb up in His lap and talk to Him. But that is not my purpose here on Earth, my purpose is to tell people about Him, show people Him, and raise my kids to know Him. I am constantly working on the first question, and through it all God is teaching me, and in return I teach others what I have learned. This was a difficult one for me to do.

Blessings.
