Well not really conquered, more like survived. Today marked the first game of football for Ms. Laurel Wreath. I sweated, I worried, I drank a lot of water, and made sure I kept my fluids up. I survived! I would have made Queen Bathsheba proud. Hubby set up my tent so I could watch my “soon to be teenagers” run up and down the field in full pads, in Florida weather. Oh and by the way, we ran the gamut of Florida weather. It was hot and muggy (I had the face fan going full speed), then it poured buckets of rain (I moved deeper into my tent) while “soon to be teenagers” braved the rain, and then after the rain there was a cool breeze (so the fan got a bit of a break), then the hot and muggy returned (time to go home, thankfully).
Anyways, I guess I have to give all the applause to my wonderful, persevering, now apprearing on Sports Illustrated cover “soon to be teenagers”. I am proud. They are not “first stringers”, this was the first game in their whole life. And despite being flattened a few times, by kids that resembled semi’s they got back up and took some more.

What more could a Mother want? (well except football games in an air-conditioned arena)…

Go “soon-to-be-teenagers”! go Mom! Kudos to you all. My brother lives in Florida and I an’t imagine trying to play footall down there. Up here in PA it’s still hot and muggy as well, but I doubt it’s as bad as there. (I guess I should have checked the temp differences prior to commenting but…at least it didn’t rain here.
Tag you’re it! Check out the details on my blog! Hee, hee, hee…
It was our first game over here, too. In the Texas brutality people are euphemistically calling heat. Fortunately, my boy resembles a panel truck which is about as big as they come in the 4th grade. I’m thinking he’ll grow into a semi as we move into the teenage hood.
So, did y’all win?
It was zero-zero over here until the last seconds when had our backs against the endzone and took a voluntary safety. So, 0-2 for the final score. Rats.
WOW, it seems like football starts earlier every year!
Good Job braving the weather! It has been 105 here the past few days… I wonder if teh TX kiddos are playing outside in this nasty heat??
Praise God for our boys!!!! Great pictures. I love football and am glad the season is starting, of course I’ll be at the games mainly for the half-time show
To see Trumpet Boy perform.
My middle school son is playing for the first time, too, but his first game will be after Labor Day. We’ve been treated to two pre-game jamborees, the first one with jerseys yesterday (:(, digital camera on the fritz :(). I wrote about this
recently because I was caught off guard with my response to his play.
Thanks for visiting Pensieve; I’ve been eager to visit Laurel Wreath.
