Thursday Thirteen #13

Thirteen rambling things from a overworked, tired, and lack of chocolate brain:

1. We are officially renting a storage shed to get stuff out to make this house more presentable when we put current house up for sale. The possibility of moving is becoming more real, and I am scared to get too excited. (same town, different house, bigger for the three boys)

2. I went today where few would be terrified to go. Under my boys beds. I am thankful Hazmat was not called. I could describe what I found, but then you would think I am a bad house keeper. When in reality I am not, I just have boys that can hide things well.

3. So I moved furniture, vacuumed enough dust bunnies to make a quilt, and I had one large garbage bag to throw away tons of junk. For some reason when I say clean your room, it is only surface cleaning. They are good at stuffing in small places. Well now it is clean…well at least until they wake up the next morning.

4. Most of my Christmas shopping is done and wrapped. YIPPEEEE….

5. I am getting excited about heading to Baltimore for Christmas. Is it snowing there? I sure hope so.

6. Well by now you all have read about my “guy in the grocery store looking for pearls“, but have your read about Blessed Assurances giving a talking to, to a biker type man.

7. My almost teenager (middle schooler) has (just this week) been getting up early every morning to shower, to make sure he has deodorant on, and smells good. What could this possible mean? I guess I could guess a girl…..but I am the only girl in his life….RIGHT???? (OH LORD I AM SO NOT READY FOR THIS). Can I please go back to this age?

8.
I am not sure I will make it to 13, I am falling asleep here. This is what happens when you move bedroom furniture by yourself.

9. Oh did I tell you I got a “talking to” by the Home Depot man? I was trying to replace one of those pull down white shades in my boys room. Well I measured the old shade to determine the size I needed. Well unbeknown to me, you are suppose to measure the window not the shade. Which, whatever, does not make sense, since I want the same exact thing, minus the lovely hole my boys put in the current one.

10. Home Depot man, cut the shade to “my size specifications” telling me it is only a guess since I did not measure correctly. Well I marched home (ok drove) and walked in and put the NEW shade up and guess what…..it fit perfect. Mr. Home Depot man if I were a man asking you to cut the shade to size would you have questioned my ability to get it right? Just wondering out loud here.

11. Of course Mr. Home Depot man was questioning my ability to replace a $20 shade while two boys are climbing up the little ladders they have in the isles, and then trying to lean over Mr. Home Depot man’s shoulder while cutting the shade. I am not saying whose two boys they were, just that it made the whole adventure even more fun.

12. Wow I guess I will finish….while typing I had two chocolate Dove mini bars, so I am not chocolate starved anymore =)

13. Did anyone notice this is my thirteenth Thursday Thirteen post. Something to be said about that. What I am not sure, but something I am sure…… thanks for hanging in here with me.

Have a blessed day.

I moved everyones bedroom furniture to spring clean last year, and I must say that this year I’m getting those little furniture mover disks that I keep seeing at the paint store. That’s hard work. Good for you! At least you found someone at Home Depot to help you. They’re all hiding when I go in with a question:D Happy Thursday Thirteen # 13!

Wow - that’s lots of stuff. You made me tired just reading it - I can only imagine how tired you are.

Happy TT!

I’m up!

I know what you mean about boys having a different understanding of what it means to clean their room than we do!

I’m trying not to be envious of your having so much of your Christmas shopping done. :) I made a good dent in mine yesterday and have a game plan for most of the rest, so I feel better about it that I did a few days ago.

Your blog is sooo pretty!

I ventured under my daughter’s bed the other day. I too, was slightly afraid, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!

Great TT!

I was SO glad to get to #12 and see that you had some chocolate. I was starting to get jittery.

Sounds like you’re making headway in your house, and that the holidays are coming just in time.

I’m tackling much of the same things and not nearly as far along as you are. I’m impressed!

Have a terrific Thursday!

Just one question…if this stuff can remain in the storage shed for an unspecified amount of time without being used..why is it that you’re keeping it??? Just askin’ :)

Get some rest :)

I’ve threatened to get a Hazmat suit when it comes to cleaning my kids rooms…what is it about them that makes them think the room is clean just because they shove everything in the closet/under the bed/under the dresser and stand there in the middle of the room like they’ve accomplished something huge???? sheesh! I KNOW I never did that but I’m not about to let the kids ask my mom to verify that!! LOL

I am afraid for look under Brendan’s bed too. In fact, I am afraid to look in his room! :)

Good for you for being almost done with your shopping and wrapping! I’m getting there, but I’m still thoroughly stumped on what to get a good friend, other than a gift card.

Oh, well…it’ll come to me. Just better come quick! ;)

Happy TT!

Boy, that Home Depot man sounds a little cranky. I’ll bet you’re right. I’ll bet he wouldn’t have talked down to a man like that.

And I don’t even want to tell you the stuff I found under my four brothers’ beds when we were growing. Some of it was beyond gross. As in fat, crawly things that used to be alive. Yuck.

If I manage to leave this comment here with the new google account I just created, you’re going to hear my shout for joy all the way in Florida!

Funny 13! I think I would’ve liked to been at that Home Depot!

Good list.

I’m glad you were right about the measurement of the blind and not the Home Depot man. Good for you!

Love you list today! I enjoy reading your blog ( I usually visit a couple times a week). Have a wonderful day!

Cleaning to my boys means stuff as much under your bed as you can, when it starts sticking out, cram some in the closet…if it becomes absolutely necessary, put stuff away. Oh, and throw all trash in the bottom of the toybox and throw a couple things on top.

I completely understand! Care to share some chocolate?!

happy Thursday!

I think I’ll make some hot chocolate for my fix!

Thank you Lord Jesus for allowing me to post! Now I hope that I can just get it to work from work tomorrow. Prayers would be appreciated.

But I wanted you to know that you are not the only one who’s afraid to look under the kids’ bed…

And HD can just stuff it. I think that he needs a little holiday cheer!

Enjoyed your thirteenth 13 Laurel. I think Home Depot men were put here for the express purpose of giving us something humorous to write about. I think I (well my husband) could write a book!!

20 eph2810 12.15.06 at 9:04 am

You know, Laurel. I think you are right about “Home Depot Men” like to question our ability to do things right. I am thrilled that you blind fit. BTW - I would have done the same thing.
As for things under our boy’s bed — well, there is not room, because he is just sleeping on a mattress. Own choice I might add — although he rather would have a Japanese bed. So I guess the mattress is a ’self-made’ Japanese bed :)
