Thankful Thursday….

by Lori

For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
Jeremiah 31:25

It has been a difficult week, and I was not going to participate but I know that is when I need to do this most.

1. I am thankful for a husband who is there with arms wide open after every day. A hug from him can make my bad day seem ok.

2. I am thankful for a Mother who will listen to me when I am being emotional, and not tease me. (that picture is for you Mom)

3. I am thankful the Lord promises to be there when I am weary, when I don’t know what to do, and helps carry me when I feel I cannot do another thing.

4. I am thankful for ESV Bible Online this site makes searching the bible while on-line easy.

5. I am thankful for all the people who comment here, you lift my spirits on weary days (like being a mother to boys).

Thankful for my friend Iris, at Sting My Heart who hosts this each week. She does so much work behind the scenes for Laced With Grace, Thankful Thrusdays, etc… that many of us don’t even realize. Iris, thank you for all you do.

Thank you for still participating, even though you are not having a great week.
You know how many times I tell my babe that I am so glad that I can come home to someone who loves me the way I am — especially when my dad was really rough…

I LOVE ESV-Online :) – I get all my stuff from there, if I quote from the ESV. I am so glad that they make it available for us…

You know – I thought about my parents today…My dad being with Lord – and my mom being 6,000 miles away. I longed for their embrace today…

Blessings to you, my sweet friend. I am so thrilled that you write for LWG…

Your hubby and your mom sound like gems :-)

Sometimes when you don’t feel like being thankful is when you need it the most because it helps to keep you centered……at least that is what it does for me…..thank you for sharing even when you don’t feel like it.
Blessings

I agree, a hug from the hubby is definitely the best remedy for the blue! Sorry you’re having a bad week. I guess we all go through this in varying degrees… Take care and God Bless!

I’m so glad you decided to participate. It’s always a blessing to me to come read your posts. Consider yourself {{{{{{HUGGED}}}}}

Both of my parents are dead but I never had a special relationship with my Mom. That is truly something to be thankful for. Hopefully, my daughters feel like we have one.

And yes, Iris, is a wonderful believing sister…as are you!

Blessings to you Laurel.

btw…today I posted my thankfuls at Child of God (My WordPress site)

Your reason for participating this week was the same one I had, sister. I needed to read this today. :)

Hi Laurel-

I know what you mean about really needing Thankful Thursday on the days you don’t feel like participating. Hopefully you week will turn around!

I have never used ESV Online. I usually use Bible Gateway but I am certainly going to check out the one you recommended.

I also wanted to get back to you on the music that played on my in-laws youtube video. The song is “Grandma Grandpa Song” by Brian Kinder. He has two versions of it. The one I used is from Special Days.

If you like that song, you have to check out “This Is Our Life” by Mary Beth Maziarz. I used that one for our Christmas montage. I just love it! Here are the lyrics:

THIS IS OUR LIFE

This is our life . . . these are our days
This is us trying to find our way
This is the love. . . this is the dream
This is us, learning how to be who we are
Who we are . . .‘cause this is our life

This is our life, these are our friends,
This is our family. . .that grows and bends
This is our chance, this is our time,
This is us making things to somehow leave behind
What will we leave behind. . . to show that this is our life

Cause I am so thankful for each moment that we share
Oh right here is everything I need
I love our life, and I love you so much honey
Thank you for loving me

This is our life, straight or a mess
These are our memories in progress
This is our work, this is our hope
This is us learning how to cope and laugh and cry
It’s all yours and mine. . . . yeah, this is our life
This is our life
This is our life

To listen to a sample of it, you can go to http://www.marybethmusic.com/music/albums/albums.htm

Now that I’ve officially over taken your comments section, I’ll sign off :)

Oh Laurel – isn’t it good of God to place such wonderful people in our loves. I have a Mom just like that too. She is my dearest friend (after my husband of course). I pray just writing your thankfulness lifted your spirit. After all – He promises it will!

Sharon March 8, 2007 at 6:10 pm

So sorry you had a bad week, but glad you were able to find things to be thankful about.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Kate March 9, 2007 at 12:10 pm

Thanks for your by-faith post…wow, praise God that the Christian walk isn’t based on feelings…we’d be ALL over the place as women. I so struggle with the same thing…sometimes you just revel in your “misery” at that point in time. Thank you sister, for putting your faith to action and for sharing with us today!
