“He (John the Baptist) came for a witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe THROUGH him.” John 1:7
1. God has been convicting me to read the BIBLE more, oh I read the bible. But to meditate and read it slowly. I hate to show my humanity but I kind of argued. I asked God, “So what would you like me to read?” And I very firmly felt the book of John placed on my heart. I argued, “God, John is your beloved and I do desire that. But I have read the book of John more than possibly any book in the bible. What would you like me to read?” I asked a second time, and again the book of John was placed on my heart. So I opened the bible and began John 1. I only got through the first chapter and the Lord has already been convicting me on stuff. Some I am chewing on, one thing I learned that I had not seen before. This Word is living!!! So I am thankful God is teaching me. I feel like I am at a stage where the Lord is teaching me for something. It maybe be way in the future, but he is convicting me to get in the word more, and to read slowly….(which I tend to read fast =)
2. I am thankful that I went to purchase a pair of shorts at Target today, the price tag said they were on sale for $8 (which just made me excited). Then I went to check out and the total came to $4.52. I asked if there was some sort of mistake? She said, no I guess they were marked down more. So I got a pair of awesome shorts for $4 bucks, how cool is that!!
3. I am thankful for a husband who calls me beautiful and gives me hugs and is now off getting me a shake, after I have bit everyone’s head off today. I was crabby, with a capital “C” today. I am still in the “feeling” justified mood, but I know I am going to feel guilty in HOW I handled my frustrations.
4. I am thankful I have a wonderful Realtor doing all she can to sell my house (and it has not even been on the market that much). I am going to be calling for prayers next Tuesday, but I will chat more about that later.
5. I am excited my Mom and Dad get to get away to Colorado for a week. They are staying on a Ranch and going with my Aunt and Uncle. I just wish I could run away with them to go visit her. Really, they would not even see me, I would be sitting taking up all of Barb’s time =))
6. I am just giddy beyond excitement, that I am having my first MIRL (Mom, that is meet in real life) in May. What if she thinks I am too obnoxious? What if she does not like me? Despite those feelings, I feel like I am off to meet a best friend. Oh who am I meeting you ask?
Well head on over to Sting My Heart for more Thankful Thursdays. (that is who I am meeting)

John is a great gospel to read whether you really it slowly or speed read it - no matter what it will still make an impact:)
Your hubby, your shoes, your list of thankfuls is great!
God Bless,
Betty
How exciting that you get to meet Iris!!
Have a blessed week!
Don’t you just love it when you get a bargain and then find out its even a greater bargain! Thanks for “showing your humanity” as it convicted me that I need to slow down when reading The Word. Sometimes our strengths can be our weaknesses as well.
Thanks for sharing your list of thankfuls! Reading what someone else is thankful for makes you take note of your own life and appreciate it.
I’m sure the person you are meeting will love you! You seem to bare your soul so I’m sure the “real-life” you is even better than the “blog” you!
Oh, why, oh, why do I never find bargains anywhere. Even at target…I really need to go shopping for some summer clothes, but I don’t like shopping…Sorry, you felt crabby (with a capital C) today. Isn’t it wonderful to have a hubby who loves one no matter what! Yeah, I am a little nervous too, but I am more excited than nervous…:)
Thank you for sharing your thankfulness with us this week.
Blessings to you and yours.
I’ve been feeling the same way in reading scripture…..and I just started reading the Bible again because I just need to soak it up more……
I love bargains…although sadly in my size there is rarely ever a bargain…
I wish I could come hang out with you and Iris…that would be so cool!
I love your list of thankfuls…
Blessings
I am back - I LOVE John!!! I think it has become my favorite Gospel. I am reading Mark right now…Jesus telling everyone not to tell who He is is very interesting…
I love your thankful list, I always enjoy your thankfuls.
Ive been reading the bible more this year I pray that you will be blessed by it as much as i have been.
bargains are always good
bless your hubby
I pray that your house sells soon.
I pray for safe travels for your parents
Wow! You definitely were lucky to get it for that price. Would love to experience that too.
Happy Thursday!
We must have similar hubbies. Because after a nasty, crabby day, he’d be out gettin’ me some ice cream or a shake too! *wink* Hope today is better!
If God weren’t teaching us, then I’d worry. I’m so glad you get to met Iris. Boy, would I like to be there too. I hope it doesn’t get too hot for you.
Thank you Laurel, for being such an encouragement to me. Blessings!
Great list. Iris is going to love you….have a great week!
Laurel, I just finished a book you may be interested in. It’s called John’s Story, The Last Eyewitness by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins (Left Behind series). The link is in my sidebar. It’s fiction but it incorporates scripture and is a quick read.
I can’t wait to hear about your lunch with Iris! How much fun!
I love when I find a bargain like that!
Praying you sell your house!
Blessings~
I love shopping trips like that. Got a lovely fluffy scarf and gloves set for £2 that way.
your posts always touch my heart. Thanks for that. God has been dealing with me about reading His word more slowly also for a couple of months now.
and thanks for the wonderful comments you left me.
Amen to number 3…I am more of a coffee drinker. My hubby…no matter my mood…would do anything for me.
I love your list! You have a wonderful husband and family I love hearing about them in your posts. I am so glad you get to meet Iris have fun! Love that you got a bargain .
Have a wonderful and blessed week.\
In his endless love,
Angel
What a great deal on those shorts! I love when that happens.

Nice list.
And a husband going to get you a shake on a bad day-good man. I’d be thankful, too.
Loved your list, and who could not love YOU?? Your MIRL will go fine, and enjoy your journey through John. I’m being called into I and II Peter….yikes!
Great list, Laurel! I am praying that your house sells quickly and at a good price! Blessings.
What a great list! We do have so much to be thankful for–don’t we!
Diane
James 1:17
Now I’m sad. How sad you couldn’t come out here with your parents. I’d put you up at my place in a heartbeat - what fun we’d have.
I love it when that happens at the checkout. Like you, I always ask if there’s a mistake. We’re not really very bright are we? What if they said, “Why, yes. There’s a big mistake and these cost twice as much as you thought.” LOL
I’m praying about your house. It’s gonna happen - I just know it.
Still praying about your house, I love how God blesses us in his word and in our lives, be it shorts or a family who loves us despite our faults!
Target is marking down a ton of stuff today! I was there this morning and they were scanning all of the kids clothes. I bought Ellie 3 pairs of spring ojs and a new leotard. Savannah got a new leotard and the cutest pair of shoes! I won’t even go into the 75% off Easter candy. Yummy!
I have been reading John as well, it is wonderful. My great grandmother used to read John 17 everyday-I read it now with tears in my eyes but praise God for her legacy of faith she left behind for me. For that I am thankful!
Regarding number 5… exactly when are your parents coming to Colorado? Because we have a BLIZZARD coming in tonight. If you can believe it.
I’m thankful for cool bloggers like you!
God is just so good and what a wonderful hubby you are blessed with…a shake even when you are crabby, new shorts, to meet your MIRL - not sure what that is all about but you are blessed I am sure.
Have a wonderful day!
What a great list. I, too, have been trying to read more slowly and digest the text during my Bible reading time rather than rush through it. What a difference it makes. Have a wonderful day!
And will you be thankful if you fit in those shorts after the shake?
Great thankfuls!
I am like Target-clearance-rack addicted! We walk in the store, which is not often as it is in the big city, and my son says “Not the clearance rack. Not the clearance rack. Please, not the clearance rack…” !
How fun to meet a blog friend in real life!
$4 yep…. I get physched when I score like this!
I hope the shake was double chocolate.
I don’t do shorts at any price.
I just learnt what MIRL means LOL Thank you!
I will be helping your realtor all I can from over here!
BTW, you are getting SO good at photoshop.
Was blessed by your thankful list! I just finished the book of John and Acts again, and now am back to 1 & Peter. It appears every time I read these books, I find something new and different that speaks to me which I missed previously.
Thanks for sharing!
I know I’ve been moved in my heart to slow down in some of the books I’ve read often too. To just really slow it down and think on what God would be saying specifically to me in my life with each verse or passage. Sometimes it’s hard to do that. I tend to want to just zip through like a novel.
I love me a great bargain. Good for you for scoring a doozie of one!
Have fun meeting with Iris. So when are any of you coming to Western Canada.
Now, why on earth did you have to go and mention reading the Bible more? I can’t get away from the Holy Spirit on this one! Of course, it’s a good thing to have Him convicting me in this area, but oh, it does hurt at times!
I think you visited mine, so thank you.
Laurel, I enjoy stopping by your site not only Thankful Thursday. It’s always a blessing to me.
Can I ask you to drop by today to read my blog post? I’m hoping we can link together a virtual prayer circle regarding the vitims & injured on 4/16/07
Hugs & Prayers,
