Thankful Thursday

in Thankful Thursday

“No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.”
Joshua 1:5

1. I have been studying the book of Joshua, and I just love how the ordinary Joshua, could become so extraordinary. I am thankful God can take the humble and make them great.

2. I am thankful my husband gave me the day off Monday. I had a whole day of NOTHING, I read a book, I talked to God, I rested. It was such a gift.

3. I am thankful my boys are really enjoying flag football (first time playing flag), I really enjoy watching them (and it does not hurt that my youngest is the fastest on his team ;)).

4. I am thankful I am not getting up early to take my kids to school, I have been getting up and using that time for my devotional time. Summer mornings are SO much more relaxed.

5. I am thankful for all you guys and the positive and uplifting comments you leave. Some days it makes all the difference for me. Thank you (and no I am not fishing for positive comments now, ;)

6. I am thankful for God’s faithfulness and his awesomeness. Each morning I climb out of bed foggy headed, get my coffee and go sit on my back porch. Sometimes just not feeling like praising God, but just hearing the birds sing lifts my spirits and changes my attitude quickly. Now mind you I won’t be sitting on my porch in a few months in this Florida weather, so I am enjoying it now. So I am thankful for the birds that always sing no matter what.

I can sure relate to several of your “thanks.” It’s nice not having to get the kids to school (although I still have to get up early to get my hubby to school!) I also love the blue skies and the sound of the birds in the morning. It makes me thankful every day.

Laurel,

Girl I am right on the porch with you. I wake up foggy but the coffee, my Jesus and the birds are a gift I cherish. Blessings, Lynn

I enjoyed your thankful list and for reminding me of those sweet sounds of birds…they aren’t near my house here (no trees) here. But, oh how I love that sound. I am going to enjoy it through you! Have a wonderful day!

School is almost out! Woohoo! I’m with you in rejoicing about that. It makes my life easier for a couple of months.

I’m joining in Thankful Thursday for the first time this week. :-)

Awesome list my friend.

You know, Joshua has been my Old Testament ‘hero’ for years. Although I can take great comfort in David and His walk (and mis-steps) with the Lord, but Joshua was obedient - he just trusted :)
I am so glad that you life is a little less hectic for you…Very cool that your hubby gave you the day off on Monday…
The mornings are for me the most precious time of the day–but especially Saturday mornings :)

Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart with us this week.

Be blessed today and always.

Wow, school’s out now, huh? We’re still plugging away in our home. Some children are wrapping up a subject, but have another couple to complete, but then we didn’t start our school year until November, so I can’t complain.

Great list!

God bless!

I am so glad you’re seizing peaceful moments. Moms need all of them they can get.

God Bless you!

I love my mornings! I’m up before the birds and once they wake up it’s like the Amazon forest around here. Well, more like Uncle Wilbur’s farm. We have roosters crowing, birds singing, dogs barking, motor boats puttering. I love it!

Enjoy your Thursday, girlfriend!

My kids start their summer vacation today and we are also thankful for the more relaxing days ahead. Great list.

That comment by “Terri” is from me. I started that blog for our trip to China and now can’t get in to edit because I can’t remember my username. Seriously.

What a relaxing Monday. Glad you got some rest time. Listening to the birds…on your porch…with coffee in hand! Is that heaven?? :)

Thanks for sharing your heart with us!
Blessings on your day.

I love Joshua. I wrote about Scheduling based on Joshua at http://heartofwisdom.com/homeschool_scheduling.html

I had your thoughts on #6 this morning. I went to feed the horses and lingered for a long time in the pasture. Even mucking can be sweet in this weather listening to the birds. Where in FL? I’m from Orlando. We plan on moving to the Leasburg area, Lord willing, when our home sells.

Thanks for the list.

My husband is currently building my porch to sit on. I can’t wait to use it in the morning. I too love the reminders of our awesome God!

Your Thankful Thursday post is always so nice, Laurel.

Even when my girls were young and I was working full time, I loved summer mornings. Not having to factor in getting them off to school made it so so much more relaxing.

I sure understand about the back porch. If Rob doesn’t get my tacky blue canopy back up again, I’m not going to be sitting on mine many more mornings either. WAY too hot. LOL

OK, I’m turning the computer over to Mandy when she gets here this morning. I’ll be digging through all my books to do the meme you tagged me for yesterday while she’s got it tied up. Sigh. :-)

I too am grateful for all the uplifting commenters. It’s amazing how just the right comment can come at just the right time! Gotta be God! Have a wonderful day!

30 Darlene 05.31.07 at 2:22 pm

I so want number 4! You’ll have to email me and tell me when the kids go back to school again. Ours are out for July and August. So do your kids get three months off? or do they go back earlier?

31 Robin 05.31.07 at 2:41 pm

Mornings with my husband on the patio with our coffee is the best part of our day!
Loved your thankful list.

32 Susanne 05.31.07 at 3:27 pm

All those sound so wonderful. I really enjoyed this list and feel thankful you got to experience them this week.

33 Kathleen Marie 05.31.07 at 3:45 pm

I can’t wait for those days of being able to sit in the lounge chair for an entire day and reading a book or two. I only get about one a week, but its heavenly! Thanks for sharing

38 Yellow Mama 05.31.07 at 8:44 pm

I too am thankful for summer. Having just stepped away from my job last week, I look forward to having quiet time especially before the little man gets up…then it is pure activity around here. Blessings to you.
