Mistaken Identity at the Hair Dressers

How many times have you been mistaken for someone else? Well this happened to me a few days ago. I called to make a hair appointment to get my hair trimmed and the gray my sons give me covered. I have not been to my hair dresser in awhile because when I was last in Phoenix visiting my sister she surprised me with a “Day of Beauty” with her hair dresser. It was a nice surprise so therefore it has been several months since I have seen mine.

The last time I visited with my hair dresser she was overjoyed that I brought her a tons of books to read. She, like me, is an avid reader and was beyond ecstatic to know I was a book reviewer. During that last appointment we were able to share our faith with each other and how God works in our lives. It was a neat blessing. And I left with a good feeling….or so I thought.

Fast forward to this month, l called to make an appointment excited because this will be my first official outing since the recovery of my little procedure. The receptionist asked what time I would like to come in and I told her I was flexible since I had work off, then she asked me my name.

I was immediately put on hold and I sat there wondering what was going on. My hair dresser came to the phone and asked what time I would like to come in. I said, “well the receptionist mentioned you had 10:45 open.” And then my hair dresser said, “now Laurel you know we have had problems in the past, are you sure you can make that time?” I sat there STUNNED, I had never missed an appointment, I did cancel once but gave plenty of notice. I was speechless. The only words I could utter was, “but I am the one who gave you the books.”

“OH!” my hairdresser replied, “I think they have you mixed up with someone else, and by the way I am LOVING the books.” The appointment was made, but I hung up shaken. The one person you DON’T want to tick off is your hair dresser!

This was definitely a case of mistaken identity that could have made me look bad….literally!

Question, have you ever been mistaken for someone else?

She started it!

First Shalee copied Chilihead, and Shalee said friends copy friends. So I have to share a funny from last night.

To understand this joke:
1. Hubby and I have never been divorced.
2. I am eleven months OLDER than my husand.

Last night we were at our first high school football meeting (gasp, that is another post in it self)..anyways, afterwards we were mingling around and oldest boy was chatting with some of his friends.

One of his friends came up to us, and looked at oldest boy and said, “This your Mom?” He answered yes, then the boy responded, “well you must be his step Mom because you are not old enough to be his Mom.” My son just sat there giggling, and I praise God I was not drinking or I would have spit it out all over the young boy.

He is going into 9th grade, where do these boys learn to talk like that??

Hindsight is 20/20, I so wish I would have responded, “YEP, just call me trophy wife.” HA!

There is my quote for the day. (all your fault Shalee, hehe) Also please see post below

Have a great weekend.

Husbands create an extra seven hours of extra housework……. (so I am officially told by this study)

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - For married women who can’t figure out why they always have so much housework researchers may have the answer — husbands.

A new study from the University of Michigan shows that having a husband creates an extra seven hours of extra housework a week for women. But a wife saves her husband from an hour of chores around the house each week.

“It’s a well-known pattern. There’s still a significant reallocation of labor that occurs at marriage — men tend to work more outside the home, while women take on more of the household labor,” said Frank Stafford, of the university’s Institute for Social Research (ISR), who directed the study.

“And the situation gets worse for women when they have children,” he added in a statement.

Stafford’s findings are based on 2005 time-diary data from a study on income dynamics that has been conducted since 1968 at ISR.

The researchers studied diaries to assess how people spent their time and questioned men and women about how much time they spend cooking, cleaning and doing basic work around the house.

They found that young single women did the least amount of housework, at about 12 hours a week. Married women in their 60 and 70s did nearly twice that amount, while women with more than three children spent 28 hours a week cleaning, cooking and washing. (excuse me can you say that again??!! I KNEW IT!)

But it’s not as bad as it used to be. In 1976 women did an average of 26 hours of housework a week, while men did about six, according to the study, (sorry Mom…)
