Bonehead move of the day…

If I don’t get around to your post, and if I saved your post to read later…well that is because Mrs Bonehead…um that would be me, accidentally hit “mark all as read” on her reader.

Well it is less stressful, but I feel guilty.

Sorry. And if you don’t know what I am talking about, then don’t worry about it (aka…Mom). =))

Can you leave a nice comment for my friend Vicki at Windows to My Soul. She is having surgery today and I would the love fact that she returns to tons of comments. Feel free to post something on your blog also to send people to her site. I know she is nervous, so a prayer would be wonderful also.

Thanks. Click here to go to her site.

Monday morning anticipation….

“”When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”
“What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”
“I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully.
“It’s the same thing,” he said.”

A tag because I am brain dead…

Because tomorrow is the last day of spring break, I won’t share how I feel about that. dancing

And I am basically brain dead and lack original thought, I saw this tag on my friend Amy’s site and thought I would jump in.

I have to tell you 6 unimportant things about myself:

1. I have not had a soda in over a month. The gasps you just heard is my family on the other side of the US…but it is true I swear. I also only have one small cup of coffee in the morning. Now if you knew what a caffeine lover I was, your eyes would be bugging from amazement. Lets see how long I can keep it up. I am trying to eat healthy.

2. I read a book a week. Yes I am the writer of Book Buzz, but really if I wasn’t I STILL would read a book a week. I LOVE READING. By the way have you read the reviews for April?

3. I have begun only eating sprouted bread (Ezekiel 4:9 bread) or spelt bread.

4. I am already looking forward to running away this summer to Minnesota to do some bass fishing. Ok, I don’t really bass fish (but I have to say I look mighty cute with my pink fishing pole I bought last year), instead I read and enjoy the beautiful handy work of God. This year I am hoping to get matching pink waders. My motto is, “if I have to fish I might as well look cute doing it!” And I know all the boys will leave my stuff alone, because really what man/boy wants to be seen with a pink rod. Photobucket

5. My oldest is TWO months away from being called a HIGH SCHOOLER. People I don’t look old enough to HAVE a HIGH SCHOOLER. In fact when I was purchasing his birthday cake for his birthday last month, the cashier (an older lady) blurted out, “Girl you look WICKED young to have a 14 year old.” I was at first flattered, but as I walked away I wondered if I should tell her I was in my 20’s when he was born. Also my son’s basketball coach always calls me my son’s “sister.” Yep, he is the Casanova.

6. My middle son is running away to the beach all day tomorrow, yep I am jealous. I think when he returns I will tell him of our adventures of eating cake and ice cream all day…..do you think he will fall for it?

Writing out 6 unimportant things took longer and more thought than I had. I learned two things: yep I am boring and I am wordy!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

How is it as an 30 year old woman who lives clear across the US from her parents…still gets this funny feeling when you hear the words “we are going on vacation and will be back soon.” You still get that feeling like:

MOM AND DAD ARE GONE LET’S PARTY!!!

hehehe, I’m just saying somethings never change. I promise Mom I will try to stay out of trouble but for some reason trouble seems to always find me….have a great time =))

How does this blogging thing work again??

I feel totally out of things right now, it is going to take me a bit to get back into routine. I did manage to get my tree up today, that is in between sleeping. I am so glad I came back from AZ on a Friday so I had the whole weekend to sleep. I want to know who prayed for my return trip. I NEVER NEVER in my life have been able to sleep on the plane, but when the plane left AZ I was out. Next thing I knew we were landing in Atlanta for our 3 hour layover. Then we got back on the plane for our one hour trip to Orlando, and I slept again!! I could not believe it. I guess it was a mixture of really not feeling well and over the counter drugs ;)

I am still very weak, I think I am fighting a sinus infection that just wears me down. But tomorrow is Monday and normal routine awaits. Back to driving here and there.

Despite things not going as planned (like being able to meet up with Iris) it was a nice visit to Arizona. I ate a lot of food, did some shopping with Mom, and got to see my SIL who is ready for her twin boys to be born and my sister who is three months pregnant. Plus all my nieces, they were so much fun to play with. The good news is I get to go back in January sometime to help with the twins when they arrive (which I kept telling them, not until after Christmas please). We will see if the boys listen ;)

I have visited almost all Thankful Thursday participants, please forgive me that it has taken me so long. Hopefully I will get back into the swing of things here soon, which means Christmas baking, Christmas shopping, etc….

Serisouly this book is coming out I believe the 29th of October.

Answers To Your Questions:

Filed under About Me, Blog, Immediate

Yesterday I said you guys could ask me anything in celebration of my birthday (which is today the 19th). You guys made me use my brain, here are answers to your questions. I will add more if more come in.

Oh and guess what I am having tonight, since I can not have my birthday cheesecake (due to jaw surgery).

from Sonic

What is your idea, if no holds barred allowed, what is the ideal date with your hubby?

Anytime I have him all to myself with no kids. Seriously we have been married for 13 years, and it was not until THIS summer that we took the first vacation (just the two of us). We did not have a honeymoon. He took me to Savannah, GA. And to me it was the best time I have ever had in my life, and we renewed not only why he is my best friend but why he is my lover for life also. It was a no holds barred several days.

What is your most favorite comfort food?

I have to pick one? I will have to go with the oldie but goodie…..chocolate. Specifically Dove Dark Chocolate little bars. My mother in law got me hooked on them. They are a perfect sweet treat after dinner. That is if you can eat just one =)

Do you dread turning 40?
Yum, yes. Do I want to turn 40, oh yes I want to be here to see my grandchildren and possibly great grandchildren (not at 40 yrs old mind you, that would be a little to young for my kiddies). I guess I am one that does not grow old gracefully; I fight it tooth and nail. Or in other words, facials and night creams.

What one moment in parenting do you really wish that you had a do-over?

There are so many moments, because I am soooo NOT perfect. Lets see. When my (who shall remain namless child) was younger made an off color remark to a girl. I was mortified, but unfortunately I was too worried about how it would make me look as a parent instead of wondering why he said what he said. How I have learned now =)

Knowing your kids as they are right now, what do you think they’ll be doing as a career in their future?Oldest, Youth Pastor

Middle, Civil Engineer or Computer Engineer

Youngest, Engineer

What is your most proud (in a good sense) moment as a Christian- something that you feel that God looked at your doing and smiled?

When I gave my testimony to a group of high school girls. I was terrified (with a capital T), and once I began the Holy Spirit just took over. What is funny, is I really don’t remember it to well (except beginning and then how I felt when it was over). I was sooo excited I could not even go to sleep that night.

What’s your favorite color? Mine’s “blue– NO! RED!! Ahhhhh….” (Name the movie and you win one of the donut holes I’m eating. I, of course, will eat it in your honor.)

I give up, if it is not from Star Wars then I don’t know =)

What writer has most influenced you in your walk with Christ?

Besides Angela Hunt who wrote “Do you Think I am Beautiful” (she had me sobbing through the pages)

I would say Francine Rivers, Mark of the Lion series. That series changed the way I prayed, helped me to see what stepping out in faith means.

What person in general has been your best mentor?

I have been blessed with many(no certain order) Mom, Grandmother, Gladys Hagen (with Jesus right now), Dad. Each taught me something different, but something I carry with me everyday.

As for some one I don’t know personally, Beth Moore bible studies have changed my life.

What is your earliest memory?

By the way I take obedience class from Mojo =) My earliest memory is, there was a boy named Chris in 1st grade who was my best friend. We hung out all the time. He invited me to spend the night at his house. I was so excited I ran to my Mom and asked her (knowning she would say yes, because it was a friend), but she said NO. I could not understand, I am sure I threw a fit. But it really stuck with me. BTW that sweet boy Chris grew up to ask me to Prom, I turned him down (big mistake). Now he is now married and has children.

What is your favorite fiction book and your favorite non-fiction book, excluding The Bible?

Fiction: I would have to say The Mark of the Lion Series by Francine Rivers

Non-Fiction: (I don’t read to many of these) but I guess “Beyond The Gates of Splendor” which I read as a teenager.

Is that too conservative for you? Nope

Okay, when I turned 36 I wanted to do a complete makeover. If you could dispose of your current wardrobe what would be the first item you would replace it with…something that says …this is me, 36 and lovin’ it!!

Well on the show “What Not To Wear” they have a sign that says no mini skirts after 35, well big bummer !!!! (and I am kidding)

Hmm I think I would like to get something like this:

That says “I still have it baby!!!”

If you could give some advice for a new mom of a son.. what would it be?!? I wanted to ask you this question because you are such a wonderful person and wonderful mom… and I would LOVE to know some of your secrets :)

1. Buy lots of scented stuff, because your sweet boy will not always smell that sweet =)

2. If your child hits, bites, cuss’, or does something totally contrary to the way you raised him, do not take it personally, nor does it reflect the type of mother you are. Use them as “teachable lessons”

3. Boys are different than girls, girls like to spend time talking, boys like to spend time “doing” things.

4. Let your boy be a boy, he will pick up sticks and pretend they are a gun, help them relate to the “heros” of life, they like to feel like the “knight in shinning amour”.

I could continue, but it would be a whole another post.

What are your hobbies? I guess reading is the closest thing to a hobby, but I do enjoy the computer also. I love learning new things. The next thing I want to learn is Photoshop.

Any instruments you play? Unfortunately no, I have always wanted to learn piano. I always said I was going to do that after my kids move out. We will see.

How’d you meet your husband?Hubby and I went to the same 4 year college (go Wildcats)… we lived in the same co-ed dorm. Boys on one side, girls on the other. Well I am going to cheat on this question and say there is a whole post on this one HERE.

What is the best thing about having boys?

This could be a post in itself, but I would have to say they are not petty like girls. They make me laugh. They treat me like a Queen (since I am the only female in the house). I just love to watch them play, to give it their all, to be competitive; but yet, have a tender heart, to cry when I am upset, and to come give me hugs. This gives me an idea for a post =)

Can I just tell you how God is blessing me….

I was having a very difficult day yesterday, (one of my down days). I am doing a lot better this morning, thank you for asking. Anyways. God has really been keeping me going.

First I have the sweetest bloggy friend in her. Her encouraging emails and care have really helped me (I have told her so personally).

Then I read this

Laurel Wreath writes Let Your Fire Burn! She shares all about how the holy spirit keeps our faith fires going. Laurel Wreath has quickly become one of my favorite encouragement blogs. If you’ve never visited her blog, now is the time to go and get a quick faith-lift for the moment.

from her. And I can not begin to tell you how she blessed my heart on a down day. I even bragged to my husband and Mom.

Then this morning I HAD to go onto the middle school campus because they were collecting fundraiser money and I am the PTA treasurer. I did. not. want. to. go. I got up this morning at 6am trying to come up with every excuse. Well I showed up, they had tons of women covering for me collecting the money from the fundraiser, so they said “go home and get better”. I was almost skipping out of the school. I just did not want to face tons of middle schoolers with my mouth rubber band shut.

Then the cherry on top. I come into work this morning (I have a very flexible job), well my boss calls me and says, “I did not want to send you flowers because they just die, I told him no worries; you made my family dinner and have gone above and beyond” and then he said, “well I just want you to know you have a 9am pedicure apt tomorrow and you will go and then bill me for the time”. I about fell out of my chair. I said “I am not going to bill you for the time”, and he said, “yes you are because I am asking you to!”. I stared to cry.

Oh my goodness how I feel God’s love around me, and I will have pretty toes to boot!
