Sometimes having “almost teenagers” crack me up.
To give some of you some hope while you have your hands in poo, waking up each night and sometimes just worn out. Now mind you I LOVED those baby times and miss them dearly, and if God “dropped” a baby in my lap I would love to go back to those times. But having pre-teens can crack me up. I love teenagers (well most of the time)….(because I am sure I will write a post a week from now saying, I can not STAND teenagers!) HA! Well anyways….
Conversation from yesterday: (I pick my son up from school, along with two other boys)
Boy 1: “I know some girls that think I am cute”
Me: Oh really are they nice?
Boy 1: I also know some girls that think your son is cute?
Me (ears perking up): Oh? Well that does not surprise me, my boy is good looking! But I told son, that he can not look at girls until he is 18 and has a job. (me laughing)
Boy 1: Well LAUREL YOU KNOW THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!
Me: “Boys, I want you to listen to me. Some of the girls that may be drop dead beautiful right now, does not mean they will be beautiful later on. Most likely it is the girls that are ok looking now (not ugly, but ok looking) that as they grow older will really blossom and become beautiful women of God”.
Boy 2 (pipes up real loud): THAT IS NOT TRUE, I am always going to be sexy!!!!
Boy 1: Sorry I like the beautiful ones!
Son: Just laughing at everyone….
Me (laughing): Well then I don’t want to hear that I didn’t warn you.
My son the whole time just chuckling (see son is in 7th, these other boys are in 8th). Then after the two boys got out of the car to their prospective homes, my son said “I should have asked Boy 2 when he is going to begin looking sexy.”
OK THIS HAD ME LAUGHING ALL DAY.
I am finally at the stage that I can really enjoy my kids with conversation. I can make my dry humorous comments and THEY GET IT! And THEY CRACK ME UP!!
This is from today’s Snippet reading and my prayer for my sons today:
Col. 1:9-12 “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father…”

This made me LOL
My son just started 7th (my oldest) and he will be ::gulp:: 13 in Nov. He’s physically blooming a little late which suits me fine. I am just starting to notice though that he is a little more mature in his conversations and yes I do get more out of talking to him than say my 10 yr old
Thanks for pointing this out, I need to water that seed and watch it bloom! xoxo melzie
Bwa ha ha! Out of the mouths of babes!
You’re right, Laurel Wreath, it sure is nice when you can have grown-up conversations with them.
I can’t wait for this stage, the girls both still think boys are disssssgusting!
