I am hopping all over the place this week, come join me over at Laced With Grace today.

….more than twice as many people have requested assistance for the Christmas season from the Salvation Army than all of last year. Some people got up at the crack of dawn to line up in the hopes of providing their kids with Christmas gifts.

Five states posted jobless rates above 12% in August, according to federal data released Friday.

In each of these stories these are real people who are hurting; people who Jesus looks down upon with compassion. This is who Jesus was talking about when he said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”

Unfortunately I think Christians become too tangled up with their own lives, with their own beliefs, that they do not see what is going on around them. (CLICK HERE TO READ THE REST)

Sometimes having “almost teenagers” crack me up.

To give some of you some hope while you have your hands in poo, waking up each night and sometimes just worn out. Now mind you I LOVED those baby times and miss them dearly, and if God “dropped” a baby in my lap I would love to go back to those times. But having pre-teens can crack me up. I love teenagers (well most of the time

Conversation from yesterday: (I pick my son up from school, along with two other boys)

Friend 1: “I know some girls that think I am cute”

Me: Oh really are they nice?

Friend 1: I also know some girls that think your son is cute?

Me (ears perking up): Oh? Well that does not surprise me, my boy is good looking! But I told son, that he can not look at girls until he is 18 and has a job. (me laughing)

Friend 1: Well Lori YOU KNOW THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!

Me: “Boys, I want you to listen to me, some of the girls that may not be considered beautiful right now, as they grow older will really blossom and become beautiful women of God. I don’t want you just looking at how a girl looks on the outside, but on the inside.”

Friend 2 (who has only been listening so far pipes up real loud): THAT IS NOT TRUE, I am always going to be sexy!!!!

Friend 1: Sorry I like the beautiful ones!

Son: Just laughing at everyone….

Me (laughing): Well then I don’t want to hear that I didn’t warn you.

My son the whole time was chuckling (see son is in 7th, these other boys are in 8th). Then after the two boys got out of the car to their prospective homes, my son said “I should have asked Friend 2 when he is going to begin looking sexy.”

OK THIS HAD ME LAUGHING ALL DAY.

I am finally at the stage that I can really enjoy my kids with conversation. I can make my dry humorous comments and THEY GET IT! And THEY CRACK ME UP!!

This is from today’s Snippet reading and my prayer for my sons today:

Col. 1:9-12 “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father…”
