This is the second book in Neta Jackson’s House of Hope series. At the end of the first book Where do I go? Gabby Fairbanks, who was taking care of her elderly mother, found themselves thrown out of Gabby’s house by her husband. The only place they had to turn was the homeless shelter where Gabby worked as a Program Director. Gabby begins to pick up the shattered pieces of her life. The first thing on her list was to fight to get her kids back. But how does she fight for their return when she and her mother are living in a homeless shelter?
Gabby found that when life knocks you down, it is then that God surrounds you with others who help you back up again. With Gabby’s unusual friend, Lucy the bag lady, and the Yada Yada Prayer Group, Gabby finds the strength to begin hoping again. Gabby’s first step was to raise enough money to find her own apartment for her and her Mother. Unexpectedly an intruder burst into Manna House Women’s Shelter to cause harm and Gabby’s Mother’s dog saves the day. This brought unexpected media attention, but also left Gabby wondering if this media attention will hurt her chances of getting her sons back.
I believe a good author has you thinking about the book even when you are not reading the book. Neta Jackson is that type of author. I found when I set the book down; I was often wondering why Gabby made certain decisions, what if she tired a different alternative. Who do I talk to? has unexpected twists and turns, but through it all you see God’s hand moving in unexpected ways. I love how Neta Jackson displayed God’s compassion and faithfulness even when we at times see no hope. With God there is always hope and sometimes through life’s shattered dreams, he glues them back together offering bigger dreams than ever imagined.
I recommend Who do I talk to? for anyone who had experienced broken dreams and wondered where God is through the pain. Just like Gabby you will find He is your Rock through it all.

About:
Born in Winchester, Kentucky, in 1944, Neta Jackson is the daughter of a Christian school principal father and a school librarian mother. Her childhood took her from Boston, Mass., to Longview, Texas, to Seattle, Washington. She barely noticed because she always had her nose in a book — when she wasn’t drawing pictures of horses.
Her love of perfectly placed words never wavered. As a high school senior, she took the winnings from a Scholastic Magazine First Place Award for story writing and bought a typewriter. She hasn’t quit writing since.
She planned to attend Wheaton College but spent her first year in a Bible college closer to home. Husband Dave said he is glad she did. That is where they met and fell in love. Neta stayed true to her dream of attending Wheaton the next year and left Dave behind, trusting that if God meant for them to be together, things would work out.
Hundreds of letters later they were married. After two children, one foster child and grandchildren of their own, Neta and Dave enjoy one of the most successful writing partnerships ever. Their TRAILBLAZER series and HERO TALES have stacked up such prestigious awards as the Angel Award of Merit from the Education Clearinghouse Product Review, Best Children’s Book of the Year from the CBA New Zealand and the ECPA Gold Medallion Award.
When not pounding out another great story, Neta enjoys gardening and genealogy and adores the new experience of grand parenting. She and Dave worship at the Worship Center in their hometown in Illinois.
