In Novosibirsk, located in Siberia, Russia, many people were coming down with the flu. This was not your normal cold, sinus infection or bronchial infection, people were contacting the flu in the morning and were dead by nightfall. Dr. Susan Hutchinson a specialist in viral epidemics arrived in Novosibirsk and realized things were far worse than anyone could image. She called for help. Her friend Col. James MaClayton in the United States contacted TSI. This is a group in charge of solving medical mysteries from the past so they could prevent current day outbreaks. Insiders called them the Time Scene Investigators or TSI.
While the TSI investigates the outbreak in Novosibirsk—looking for a cure—an eco-terrorist group, Return to Earth, develops an influenza bomb to poison the water supply. Suddenly the whole world could be impacted by this influenza bomb and it is a race against time to find a cure.
TSI: The Influenza Bomb is a fast paced, heart stopping, believable tale of something that could actually happen. I was hooked on page one and finished the book in two days. Paul McCusker and Walt Larimore, MD are new authors to me, but they had a book before TSI: The Influenza Bomb called The Gabon Virus. Both books have the similar characters but TSI: The Influenza Bomb stands alone as a great book. This would be a great book to read on vacation. You will find you can not put the book down, be even scarier is the fact that you begin to believe this could actually happen.
TSI: The Influenza Bomb by Paul McCusker and Walt Larimore, MD can be purchased here.
Paul McCusker was born in 1958 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, but spent his formative years outside of Washington DC in Bowie, Maryland. He was given his first typewriter early in his childhood and hasn’t stopped writing since. Although he received a college degree in journalism, Paul’s first love was writing sketches and plays for Grace Baptist Church. His novels include The Mill House and Epiphany (nominated for a ECPA Gold Medallion Award) for Zondervan Books, and You Say Tomato with best-selling British writer Adrian Plass. He has authored the popular Zondervan novel The Mill House, and its sequel A Season of Shadows. Paul’s newest project is his medical thriller, TSI: The Gabon Virus, co-written with Dr. Walt Larimore.
His non-fiction includes Playwriting: A Study In Choices & Challenges for Lillenas and The Ultimate Youth Drama Book for Monarch/Gazelle.
Paul and his wife Elizabeth live in Colorado Springs with their two children.
Walter L. Larimore, MD, was in the private group practice of Family Medicine for 20 years (delivering more than 1,500 babies), prior to becoming Vice President of Medical Outreach at Focus on the Family in February 2001.
Since 1995, Dr. Larimore has been a medical journalist, initially hosting the daily, live, National Cable TV Show “Ask the Family Doctor” on America’s Health Network and then on Fox’s “The Health Network.” At its peak, the show was seen nightly in more than 22 million American homes. His “Apple a Day” 60-second features have been shown on “The Health Network” and “Discovery Health.” He has been said to have more “…actual on-air TV experience than any physician in the history of television.” (Joe Maddox, President and COO, America’s Health Network) At America’s Health Network, Dr. Larimore hosted the first worldwide live Internet birth in June 1998 and was also awarded the prestigious “Gracie” Award in 2000 by the American Women in Radio and Television.
Dr. Larimore has been married to his wife, Barb, since 1973—although they’ve known each other since they were 5 years old and attended kindergarten together. They have two grown children and live in Colorado Springs.
