Do you have many Facebook friends but not many in real life? Do you struggle with feelings of disconnection? Brenda Poinsett discusses why women need the face-to-face communication with other women.
Today’s impersonal communication over e-mail and cell phones makes it hard to quench women’s need for genuine friendship. In Poinsett’s thought-provoking guide, Poinsett explores our desires to connect conversationally for life enrichment, stress reduction, and cooperative efforts—and puts them into bite-size nuggets that can be shared over lunch with friends!
Poinsett divides the book up into three sections: It’s A Girl Thing; Circle the Wagons, Girls; The B’s of Friendship. Under each section is five to seven sub-topics covering many different aspects of women friendships. The Friendship Factor discusses why sometimes husbands just don’t understand but a woman can understand even your nonverbal.

At twelve years of age, Brenda Poinsett found her passion: teaching. And as she followed her dream through the years, the twinkle in her eyes lit dreams in the hearts of other women, especially women who needed a sense of belief in themselves. Building on the sturdy foundation of her formal education, years of intense Bible study, and deep prayer, Brenda began speaking, leading retreats and, most of all, writing. Her books celebrating life’s joys and dealing with common problems have given women everywhere a source of wisdom and practical applications to turn to in times of need, as well as during times of joyfulness.
Brenda Poinsett holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois, and a master’s degree in religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, Texas). She has taught Bible Literature, math and sociology at high school and college levels.
She and her husband, Bob, also a speaker, have three grown sons. They live near St. Louis, Missouri, where they both study and write in their book-lined offices.
