Nothing but Trouble by Susan May Warren

Nothing but Trouble

by Lori

Have you ever been blamed for something that was not your fault? I remember one time while growing up I got a spanking for something my sister did. I was never so angry at my Dad and at the whole situation. Well PJ Sugar sure knows what it means to be blamed for some thing that was not her fault.

At the end of her high school year her long time boyfriend did not stand up for her when she was blamed by her small town for a fire at the local country club. This resulted in PJ leaving home right after high school, hoping never to return to Kellogg, Minnesota again.

After spending 10 years running away, PJ’s sister called and said she really needed her at home. Despite PJ’s fear of returning home, she found herself heading back home. PJ wanted to help her sister for the two weeks she was needed and then leave without anyone noticing. Instead she found her old high school flame was a detective at the local police station now and within two days after arriving there was a murder. It seems things only go bad when PJ is around. And now PJ’s high school best friend’s husband is being blamed for the murder.

This time PJ was not going to leave her friend Trudi during her time of need, she wanted to know why the town was trying to convict Trudi’s husband when PJ believed he was innocent. PJ knew what it felt like to be falsely accused. She was not going to run away this time.

It took me about 70 pages to get into this book, but after that I could not put it down; finished it in two days. I think every woman will see herself in PJ. A girl with good intentions who always finds herself in the middle of trouble.
