With the sales of books declining, many book sellers are looking to the Internet to generate sales. Book store owners have seen over a 61% decline in sales, where as online retailers noticed an increase (as mentioned here). According to Christian Retailing:
- Embracing the cyberspace commerce that has been partly blamed for the demise of many mom-and-pop bookstores, some brick-and-mortar stores have converted to an online presence in order to stay in business.
The internet has become the number one source for retailers to look for books they would like to read. I think with Amazon offering free shipping over $25 versus the cost of gas, it has almost become cheaper to shop for reading material online.
