10 Books That Enriched My Life Spiritually

by Lori

I read a lot of books, some I read for personal pleasure, some I read for reviewing and others I read for my spiritual growth.  As we are entering Easter, I thought I would provide you with a list of  my top 10 books that not only touched me deeply but drew me closer to Christ. (in no particular order)

1.The Cross He Bore

2. Living the Cross Centered Life: Keeping the Gospel the Main Thing

3. Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life

4. Humility: True Greatness

5. When People Are Big and God Is Small: Overcoming Peer Pressure, Codependency, and the Fear of Man (Resources for Changing Lives)

6. Knowing God

7. The Enemy Within: Straight Talk About the Power and Defeat of Sin

8. George Whitefield: God’s Annointed Servant in the Great Revival of the Eighteenth Century

9. Returning to Holiness

10. Clutter-Free Christianity: What God Really Desires for You

This is not to say I have not read other great books  but when I look at my list above, each one impacted my spiritual walk in some way. When I look at this list it makes me want to gather each one up and lock myself in a room to re-read each one.

What are some that have impacted your spiritual life?

I believe the most enlightening book I have ever read in regards to spirituality is The Mist-Filled Path by Frank MacEowen. Very nice list. I will have to look into your suggested titles.

One small book in particular stands out, and that is Secrets of the Vine by Bruce Wilkenson. I was going through a tough time, and that book helped me to understand God’s pruning is not punishment. He prunes us to discard what is withered or dead so that we can produce more fruit. Now as I face challenges, I look for God’s pruning shears with joyful confidence and not fear. Praise God!

Thanks for sharing this list. Have you ever read any of Eva Etzioni-Halevy’s books? She writes historical fiction about the women in the bible. I did an interview with her that can be read here
