In Other Words….

by Lori

You would think I could come up with some awesome post this week because we are celebrating my favorite holiday. But to be honest, I spend this week in contemplation and somewhat sadness. The week leading up to Easter, I am reminded of what I put my Savior through. It is worse than anything I have ever put anyone through. I flinch at the pictures of Christ on the cross, when in reality I am flinching at the sight of my own sin.

My greed, my selfishness, my pride, my lack of self control, I could go on and on did this to my Lord. But what boggles my mind and I will never come to grips with it, is he did this willingly for me. When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden God knew what it would take, he knew the sacrifice that He would have to make. He loved me so much that for a moment he allowed His son to go through such pain and torment. Evil threw the book at Christ, evil did its worst. It is somewhat easier to say, “Christ died for the sins of the world.” But it sure becomes more personal when you say:

Christ died for the sins of Laurel.
Christ was beaten beyond recognition for Laurel.
Christ was crowned with thorns on his head for Laurel.
Christ’s Mother Mary saw her child died before her eyes for Laurel.

Fill in your own name at the end of each sentence, and if that does not make you weep I don’t know what will.

But, and boy to do I praise God for this “but”, evil did meet it’s match.

Christ rose again three days later and beat evil for Laurel. God declared Laurel righteous because of Christ’s victory over death. I will never understand, I need only to accept. I will never be able to praise Him enough, except through my continued obedience. For it is my job here on earth to show everyone God’s Son.

Christ died for you, I don’t except you to understand, but do you accept it? No matter what you have done, Christ has already forgiven, he has already suffered for it. It is your job to believe and accept Him as Lord over your life.

O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?”

I Cor 15:55

My Lord is Victorious.

I love this part, "He did this willingly for me." This part just boggles my mind. He did it for me, Janis and you, Laurel. Great post! Thanks for sharing!

Laurel, you made me cry. I have a very hard time feeling worthy of God's sacrifice for me. It is comforting to know others struggle also. Beautiful post.

    Have a blessed Easter,

    Amen, amen, amen.

Making it personal like that is a very good way to see the reality of our sin.

So good, as always, thank you for sharing.

Beautifully said Laurel. I remember so well sitting in the car after seeing the movie "The Passion" and just weeping. I wept because all of my sinning has been done as His child. I accepted Jesus into my heart at a very young age. It just overwhelmed me that I could be so casual about the priceless gift He gave me. It is so very personal. I love the way you said it.

I love that you said we might not "get it". But how wonderful it is that we are offered to be part of God's power.

I have to chime in with Cyndi and Lisa...It is so beautiful how you have made it such a personal thing. It really brings it in perspective. What an awesome love our Savior had for us to take this upon Himself to reconcile us with God.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this week's IOW quote, my friend.

Blessings on your day and always.

I love how you made it personal. We must put ourselves in the story and realize our part in it, to be sure. I stand in awe that He took what I deserve.

Have a blessed day and week. :)
