Football Florida Style

by Lori

What about the giveaway last week! I don’t know about you but I had a blast meeting new people and reading all your wonderful comments. I too hope you were introduced to new people and new blogs to visit. Ok, back to “normal,” whatever that is. Don’t worry you have until Tuesday to enter the giveaways from last week.

FOOTBALL…..I have not updated you on Football.

We had our first football game and let me tell you we celebrated Floridian style. We sat in pouring rain ALL DAY LONG, three games, lightening, and tons of rain. Dedication I tell you!

Something has possessed my middle son because he has become a tackling fool. No football player wants to line up with him. And my oldest son did so well he earned a starting position after this Saturday’s game. My youngest son did well, but the ball did not come to him that much.

I did mention it rained..

There is my oldest #80. What I failed to mention is that oldest son barely made this game. Manly Man and he had a championship basketball game before his football game. Manly man was the coach of oldest son’s team. They played hard in their basketball game, but lost by a three point buzzer shot. They had to run out after the game to travel 35 mins to the football field. When oldest son was arriving his team was beginning to weighing in. If you don’t make weigh-in, you don’t play. Then oldest son went out on the football field and had one of his best games. Can someone please bottle up that amount of energy, I need some?

It was a great first football game, two teams won, one lost. Boy did I have a lot of laundry of wet clothes, and this is what my windows looked like when I got up in the morning.

I'm so thrilled that this was so special to you that you blogged about it (#!) and shared it with us (#2). What a special mother you are, and what memories for your boys later on in life! It just means a lot for me to see that. I wasn't as good of a mom as I'd hoped I'd be, so it's good to know that there are some really good moms out there.

    Dear Laurel,

See, another mother after my own heart. I have to get better at taking photos and using it to help my blog!! I sat throught he same yuck in Wisconsin on Thursday. Fortunately for me, our game was actually a scrimmage that lasted an hour. Which is all I could take and my poor 6 year old daughter was soaked to her core. She thought it would be fun to run laps around the track in said pouring rain while her brother scrimmaged...

    Have a great week!

  • Girl! YOU ARE the epitomy of a football MOM! Way to show your support! And hey, once you get that energy bottled.....share some will ya? I am tired beyond words....my age???
    Love you lots!
  • You are my hero, being able to do all that running around. In the rain.
  • Wow - you are dedicated, girl. I don't think that I would have set through the games in the rain (well, okay, maybe I would have). Looks like middle-son & oldest-son are getting really, really tall...

    Have a blessed week.
  • The fun of outdoor sports. We had some doozy weather with Kay when she played rugby, too.
