Hosting “In Other Words” next week.

I am going to make you put your thinking caps on for next week. I have a heart for missions, and this quote relates to missions.

“It is insufficient to proclaim that the Church of God has a mission in the world. Rather, the God of mission has a Church.” ~ Tim Dearborn

(Tim Dearborn, Beyond Duty: a passion for Christ, a heart for mission, MARC, 1998 as cited in Mission-Shaped Church : Church Planting and Fresh Expressions of Church in a Changing Context, page 85.)

What this is basically saying is Church exists because of missions, not the other way around. If you are unclear read page 85 on the link with the authors name. I got this quote from my cousin who is heading off later this year as a missionary in Lativa (you can see his picture on the left side of my page)

I so love the quote. Although I have never been on a mission, I have heard many things about missions. I do have a heart for missions too…
Have you ever thought about that soon people come here from all over the world to plant missions in the US, because every one here does not no the love of Christ, because we are way to busy with being ‘politically correct’? Just a thought…

I can see that you want me to do some actual thinking!! I’ll give it lots of thought Laurel – although I don’t about all this thinking business. I’m having a difficult time remembering my own name lately :-)
