Have you heard? I have a new hat….

by Lori

Today is my first day as book reviewer for CWO.

Have you ever felt you are blessed with something you enjoy, but you do not feel worthy to be given the task? That is how I feel about,

Book Buzz for Christian Women Online.

Here God is taking a girl who can not spell worth a hill of beans, and who does not correctly use punctuation to save her life.I love reading so much and I have been given this awesome opportunity to read and review wonderful books that help women draw closer to God. If that is all it entailed then I would be fine. But I also get the wonderful opportunity to interview some great women. In order to interview them you need to contact them, and sound …..well intelligent.

Sometimes you have to pass through their PR person first. I can not tell you how many times I have sent an email then found a misspelling. And then Satan beats me over the head ALL.DAY.LONG about it. He reminds me how unworthy I am to be doing this, and how I am going to make a fool of myself. With Book Buzz I am speaking to WRITERS for goodness sakes. They know how to…well WRITE. And here is little ‘ol me who just struggles to spell! So with great excitement and with some trepidation I would love for you to head over to September’s edition of Book Buzz . I am so excited about this new adventure, but I would be lying if I did not have a fear that I am going to somehow fall flat on my face.

I do have to say the Lord has blessed me this month, because the first book I reviewed has become a very special book to me. I have come to know this author via email, and I feel I can call her friend. I feel like she wrote the book just for me, and it is only the first book in a series (yippe!). I would encourage you to buy her book when it comes out the first of October (or better yet, pre-order it). Don’t worry I will be reminding you on my blog when it comes out.

Thank for letting me ramble and thank you for joining me on my new adventure. Now head on over and tell me what you think =)

PS- also under “Reads” here on my blog I am going to try to keep track of the books I have reviewed so you can have a resource place to come back to.

"Here God is taking a girl who can not spell worth a hill of beans, and who does not correctly use punctuation to save her life."

That's so intersting Laurel, because I was the kid in school who was always sitting with a helper, and suffering terribly with dyslexia. Reading and writing as so difficult to me too.

Author Terri Camp encouraged me a few years ago, saying, don't worry about it, that's what the editor is for. That really encouraged me big time. But now, I'm supposed to be the editor, gulp!

Paul said, "I did not come to you with excellency of speach." That thought has encouraged me BIG TIME. God doesn't use the strong, He uses the weak. It's Christ that we reflect, not excellency of grammar.

With that said, "You go, girl!"

I am going to head over to the review Laurel, but I first just wanted to tell you that I know you are going to be great at this. You are a gifted communicator. You write from the heart. You connect with everyone in a very special way. Of course they want you to review books. I'm excited because I love books - love, love, love them - and am always looking for good books and great writers.
Okay - heading over there right now!

I am so thankful that God continues to use us and bless others in spite of our faults. You are not alone, I to feel very unworthy for the place God has me in right now!
You are doing a great job!
    Blessings

Congratulations, Laurel! God is using you in huge ways and I feel so blessed to call you my friend. You are going to be incredible--you already are.

May the Lord bless you in your new role.

Heading over there now. I had already been there looking for you yesterday but I guess I was a day early.

What a fun job!! I know you'll do fine -- your passion shines through. Sometimes that apprehension, though, keeps us even more dependent on the Lord than if we felt confident.

    Laurel,

I enjoyed reading your review. I'm actually going to be giving away several copies of Nicole's book on my blog next week, and I'd love for you to spread the word. I will also link to your review in my post.

My sister-in-law works at Tyndale, so she sent me an ARC of the book, which I just finished, and is providing a few more to share with the blog world!
  • MotoMom
Great job! They both sound like wonderful books, ones to add to my list of things to read when I am done with school.
Just remember writers have editors who review their work for a reason!
