When each of my sons turned double digits we let them select which amusement park they wanted to go to. Even though we live in Florida we rarely go (in fact unless it is a youth function at church, we don’t go). So to the kids this is a big deal and as parents we go “all out.”
For my oldest we went to Islands of Adventure, that is where as a family we discovered we were not a “rollercoaster” family. Grandpa guilted the two older boys (and Dad) into riding a certain rollercoaster. It did not look like a bad rollercoaster, but it was not until they got off the ride that I found out it went upside down. With white faces my boys claimed, “we never want to do that again.” I had to remind them Grandpa was an Air Force fighter pilot so it does not bother him. =)
Do they look young or what!
For my middle son we headed to Sea World. We signed up for the VIP treatment and was able to tour behind the scenes. It was a lot of fun. Remember I said the two OLDER boys went on the roller coaster at Islands of Adventure. At Sea World there is a log ride that looked like a lot of fun to my youngest son, which made Grandpa VERY excited. The two older ones stayed back with me (we’re not stupid) while Dad, Grandpa and youngest son went on this “innocent looking log ride.” I guess my son realized it was not so innocent when the log kept going up and up. Truthfully it was not a bad ride, but there is a nice drop at the end. That ride officially ended this family’s rollercoaster riding days, which is fine by me!
About a week ago we celebrated my youngest son’s 10th birthday. He selected Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom is perfect for us non-rollercoaster riders. We brought along my parents this time; the other two times was with hubby’s parents. We had a BLAST doing the little kiddie rides and visiting some shows.
My favorite memories of my youngest son while visiting Magic Kingdom:
1. Even at 10, he still waved to Mikey Mouse. This Mom began to cry (mainly because I was having a hard time with him growing older).
2. Watching him jump rope in the middle of the busy street in front of everyone.
3. Then watching him dance! This boy loves to shake his booty.
4. But most of all his excitement all day made me feel like a kid again. In all honesty, when we first arrived Cinderella was there and the little girl in me wanted to yell and scream “look it’s Cinderella!!!” I think somethings you just never out grow.
Son keep dreaming the big dreams and remember that freeing the sword from the stone is about wisdom and understanding not strength.

Aw, great pictures and sweet post. My oldest turns 10 this fall and I just can’t figure out where the time has gone.
I noticed it was always your *husband* getting sucked into those roller coaster rides. Very clever of you to avoid that little job.
Even I still wave to Mickey! This is a good birthday idea
I have to admit, the wave to Mickey even choked me up a little! That’s just too sweet! (Don’t tell him I said that though! I’m sure he’d be devastated!)
I love a good rollercoaster, It’s the round and round stuff that I can’t stand!
I am NOT a roller coaster chick! And after Jeff’s last trip when the girls were teens….he’s not a roller coaster dude any longer.

BUT I do like me some of that food!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your congrats for me… !
Trusting Him,
Ginger
I think Disneyworld brings out the kid in all of us. I used to take my nieces there when they were younger but it might be fun to go again. After all, we’re never too old for Mickey Mouse, are we?
The day in “Magic Kingdom” looks so cool. It sounds like you had a lot of fun as a family

Have I ever told you that on one of dates, my beloved and I rode the roller coaster and I turned green? Yeah - roller coasters are not for this gal either
Thank you for sharing your family times with us - love to read about them - great memories.
I’m not a rollercoaster fan. However, all of my kids love them. It’s nice now that I can just watch and they are old enough to go on them together, minus the barfing mama.
Sounds like a fun time.
