A Women’s Right… - misc

Today I voted. It was only the primaries for Govenor, City Council, Finacial Officer; many people do not turn out for the primaries, but this is something I feel strongly about.

Women’s right to vote.

Women’ right to be heard and to have a say in her community. I am the farthest thing from a feminist if that is what you are thinking. But I never take for granted that there was a time not so long ago that we did not have a say.

Women were not allow to vote until the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in the 1920’s. As far as our US history goes, 1920’s was not that long ago. The thing is women began to fight for the right to vote at the BEGINNING of the 1800’s. It took women like Susan B. Anthony to fight for women’s voice to be heard.

Many individuals who opposed woman suffrage believed that women were less intelligent and less able to make political decisions than men. They argued that men could represent their wives better than the wives could represent themselves. Some people feared that women’s participation in politics would lead to the end of family life.

Oh how hindsight is 20/20. We can see that the right to vote not only has helped family life, but in today’s age is helping preserve the family union.
And today it is us Moms who market people, legislators, etc… listen to.

So my point today is if there is any time you have a chance to vote in your community and you chose not to, you are doing all these women who fought for your right a disservice.

And it is important also to let your voice be heard on things of the family, things involving moral values, and things that will affect our child’s future.

And while you are at it, head on over to Everyday Mommy and read what she is standing for. I am a mother of all boys, but I stand with her on this.

I’m totally with you on this! I’m VERY thankful for my voting rights!

I Love to vote! It makes me feel like I actually get a say in something a little bigger then the “normal” every day choices!
