Thankful Thursday

by Lori

How many times do we feel like what we do day to day does not make one iota of difference. I know I fall into that line of faulty thinking. Especially being in a house where I am the only female. The boys are getting to the age of always going to Dad for sports, school, etc. Many times I have pleaded to the Lord, “please show me where I can make a difference.” According to my faulty thinking I felt the Lord was being silent. I developed the attitude, “well I guess he just can not use me.” (insert big sigh)

Slowly the Lord showed me that I do make a difference in the little things I do, in the kind words left here and there. Even when I make sure each boy has clean socks, I am making a difference. Me making a difference may not be for the glory of crowds, or may go completely unnoticed. But God NOTICES!

1. I am thankful the Lord loves me unconditionally.

2. I am thankful HE has used me in the past, is using me now, and will use me again in the future.

3. I am praising God because he is crazy about me and loves me with a passionate heart.

I want to encourage you today in whatever you are doing, even when no one is looking God sees you and notices.

God notices when you clean your toilets and provide care to your family.

God notices when you make that extra special dinner, that no one realized.

God notices when you spent all day caring for a sick child.

God is always there.
This is a different kind of Thankful Thursday, but for some reason when I sat down to write, this is what God laid on my heart. Maybe it is because one person needed to be reminded.

Be encouraged! Wherever you find yourself, whatever you do today, God notices your hard work and commitment.

Thank you SO much for this post..I really need it. I had a few days of doubt including about my blogging and asking myself what was I doing, did it matter, was it making a difference, did anyone would or did care…

Thank You so much for posting this…I can begin to tell you how much I needed this and that graphic/quote…I need to print it out and keep it in my bible to remind me that it matters so much to God.

This is a great post. I feel the same way sometimes, I can do so many things for the kids and they do not notice and then the Lord says “I DO”. I know he sees everything we do, so you are exactly right, HE sees and HE notices. I love knowing that. Thanks for a great reminder Laurel! You are a very special writer. God Bless~

You have hit the nail on the head! I have probably told you that before! But—I think all moms feel that! We forget that the Lord—SEES it all! The completed heart. The broken heart. The tidy house—and my messy one! He knows about all our efforts—and loves us—unconditionally! You blessed me!

Awesome Laurel,

3. I am praising God because he is crazy about me and loves me with a passionate heart…. Amen. Needed this today.

Great TT post!

Iris April 2, 2008 at 10:57 pm

Amen to that, Laurel…God does notices what we are doing and our attitude (sometimes mine needs a little of His adjusting :) )…

Thank you so much for the reminder that no matter how small the task we complete – it does matter to our Lord…

Blessings to you and yours on this blessed Thursday :)

Laurel, thank you so much for this post! Excellent word!

Thank you for that great post. I find that I forget quite often that God notices and appreciates what I do. Maybe I should put that on little sticky notes throughout the house to remind me! :)

“I” needed it! This is my greatest struggle. With four small kids always asking, asking, asking for something and a DH who doesn’t remember to mention that he notices I feel pretty unappreciated and unnecessary most of the time. Thanks for the reminder!

oooh I loved reading your list, I sometimes wonder if I’m doing anything positive with my boys too :-)

And those little things that He notices are a big deal to Him. They can be important parts in His plan.

Liza's Eyeview April 3, 2008 at 4:57 am

Amen. Thanks for the reminder.

Oh Laurel, this was great. Being the ONLY woman with 6 men in the house got lonely many times and I always questioned my worth!!

YOU do make a difference! You will start seeing that more and more as the time goes on.

Thanks for this beautiful reminder!

Have a blessed day♥

Laurel, thank you so much for sharing this! The enemy would have me believe this week that I don’t make a difference. I don’t want to believe his lies! I KNOW that every small thing that I do for my family is important! Thank you!!

Heather@mommymonk April 3, 2008 at 9:03 am

Thanks Laurel, I am encouraged. I needed to be reminded that God sees the little things I do for Him and that each little drop matters.

Beautiful post, Laurel!

This was nice. I need reminding often.

I’ve felt unworthy so many times in my life. I know now that this is a trap of the evil one, to make me doubt my own existance on earth. I loved what you wrote about God loving us passionatelly and unconditioanally.
Your post reminded me of a book I have been carrying with me since I began approaching Jesus, The Practice of the Presence of God. It starts with this phrase:
“Lord of all pots and pans and things…
Make me a saint by getting meals
And washing up the plates!”
Thank you for sharing your heart.

Thank you for this post! I was just emailing a friend who told me that he thought I write well and expected that once I got things situated with my new .com for each of my blogs I would be taking off as a blogger. I told him he had more faith in me than I did and wrote some of the things you mentioned above:How can my drop make a difference?

Thank you, I do make a difference!

The best Thankful Thursday I’ve read today…

Marsha April 3, 2008 at 3:50 pm

This really touched my heart, Laurel. Thank you for the encouraging words.

That was beautiful. Thank you. I needed that. I just finished counselor training for the local crisis pregnancy center today and one older woman came in that had been helping girls there for 16 years. Wow. I felt I was looking at a spiritual giant and she was so humble. She probably just looked at her ministry as one girl at a time – one drop of love at a time. What an example to follow!

This is a great post with a wonderful reminder. Praise God! Hugs to you and have a beautiful weekend!

Darlene April 3, 2008 at 6:53 pm

I love the quote and pic.
Happy TT!

Vicki April 4, 2008 at 1:12 pm

Sweet thoughts, my friend. I’m learning (at age 52) that God just wants to commune with me, and He usually fuels me eventually to do this or that, but I never know the impact. He knows, though, so that’s enough.

Happy Friday! I’m a day late and a dollar short!:-)

hugs,
Vicki
