A rambling post for ya…

I figured I had not done a rambling post in a bit, one with no real point or direction, so here it goes.

I am in SUCH BIG TROUBLE, my son goes to a reading tutor 3x’s a week. The place where it is located is to far to drive there, come back home and then drive back to pick him up. Not to mention the cost of gas, and I am one of those people ruining the environment with my big SUV (anyways I digress). So I usually end up killing 2 hours at Kohl’s or Target (they have a Starbucks I say with a big grin), or Wal-Mart or whatever is close by. Well there is a new Business center going in across from where I take my son, what is the first store that JUST opened up. A store called, HALF BOOKS. It is good condition used books. I walked in thinking, oh I am not going to like it, it probably won’t have a great selection (ok so I was hoping so). THEY HAVE A HUGE CHRISTIAN SECTION. Oh my goodness. I am in such big trouble, I have to go by this place 3x’s a week, with two hours to kill in between. Oh what, oh what is a girl to do.

One hour later and two books later I walked out of the store, called hubby and told him I am in such trouble (hey I might need an accountability person, you know to frisk me at the door to see how many books I got). I thought the Starbucks and Target being near by was going to be trouble. Oh but the temptation of half priced books, with a large Christians section. Be still my heart.

Can this mother toot her son’s horn a little bit. They are doing awesome in their flag football. My middle son, who is 11, is playing with kids that are 13-14 years old. There was this long pass to the end zone, with my middle son in the middle with two bigger/taller boys around him, and who comes up from the ground with the ball? Oh yes Mam, it was my younger/shorter son. I think I was the only parent on the side lines who was cheering during a practice game, but dang it, I was proud.

Then my oldest son, had the quarterback throw him a long pass to make a touch down, and it slipped right through his hands. I was bummed for him, well they did the same play again and he caught it and made the touch down. He came up to me afterwards and said, “Did you see me miss the ball I was so embarrassed, but the second time I was going to catch it no matter what.” (and he did) I told him he did good.

Since I am on a roll, my youngest is just good, he is fast and finally has figured what he is doing out there.

When I prayed to God as a young woman, somewhere in the mix I wanted bows and frilly dresses. But God instead blessed me with stinky uniforms, and mouth guards laying around my house. And you know what, right now I am having fun. And goodness if you read all the way down, bless you sweet little heart.

I pray you have a wonderful Friday, and don’t forget to visit me at Laced With Grace on Saturday.

2 hours of shopping, 3 days a week? Girl, I’d be in trouble too. Especially with the bookstore (but Target would do me in too).
Congrats to all 3 boys on the football. I’m glad they are doing well. I’m glad you are having fun too, even with the stinky uniforms :)

You’re rambling because all the blood has rushed from your head from encountering Tarzjay, Starbucks AND half-priced books for six hours/week. Yep, total discombobulation!

But kudos to your babies (just don’t tell ‘em I called ‘em that….I know they’re tough guys :) ).

Thank you for blessing my little heart ;).

Oh I know that feeling. There are some days I can just hear the book store calling my name.
Good for your son. I still remember the time my son didn’t catch the pass at the big game. I think I was more upset over it than he was. I didn’t get a wink of sleep that night feeling so bad for him.
It’s fun being the mother of boys!!

Oh, I’d be in trouble right there with you! How I miss the “land of Target, Walmart, Starbucks (actually, believe it or not we have that here in Okinawa!) and bookstores on every corner! Great job to your boys ~ gotta love those stinky uniforms and rough and tumble boyishness! Have a wonderful week, my friend!

Wow I would be in big trouble too….that would be scary for my hubby…..Sometimes I just lose myself in the bookstore when I have time to kill……it’s such a great time….I hate the rushed visits.
Very cute post……and I read it all the way to the bottom….do I get a metal? Just kidding!
Blessings

Oh man…6 hours to kill near kohl’s and target AND a bookstore each week? I would totally have to leave my wallet at home. And just bring ID, of course!

Half books! Wow!. I used to have the same trouble when our kids went to all the kids clubs at church–I could either hang oput at the church for that time or run around at the stores nearby. Then my friends put a coffee shop in nearby and THAT was where I went. If we had a cheeap bookstore nearby, wow. As it is Ollies had a huge discount Christian books section and I spent WAYU too much money and time there.

I am just learning the boy stuff after frilly dresses and garish outfits (two very different girls. I am not quite ready for football–right now most of the boy stuff has to do with standing on his head in the middle of my couch and filling my purse with knights and cars.

Yes, discount bookstores are VERY dangerous for me!! There’s one by my church, so I stop on Tuesdays after Bible study, and that’s bad enough.

I’d hold you accountable, but that would be sooo hypocritical of me, since I can’t resist shopping for a new book even though I have bazillions waiting to be read at home:-)

And just think of the Mother’s Days you’ll have when the boys are in their teens…big burly teenaged boys lovin’ their mama…oh, what a picture!!!!

How proud are you mom? Being a mom of boys, I know how your heart swells when they’ve done well and how it breaks when they haven’t..

I’m finishing up my baseball insanity right now..it has got to end soon before I lose my testimony..:))

love ya!

Maybe now youve found some good books next time your son has his reading lesson you could find somewhere nice to read them

Pleased they are doing so well at flag football.

Books and Starbucks and Target, oh my! Yes, I’d be in trouble, too. However, I have to be honest, I’d opt for the least dangerous combination: each time, I’d spend the bulk of the time in Starbucks reading a book! And maybe buy ONE book each week at the half-price place. Gotta TRY to have some limits, right???

Have fun “being in trouble”!

And about all those boys… my MIL always says the same things, she’d dreamed of girls. But she had three boys and it turned out to be perfect for her. Now she’s got several granddaughters, so God delivered the frills and lace eventually!

Book shops are my weakness too. How wonderful to have one to browse in where you can buy books cheap! As the mother of 2 sons, I know just how you feel. There is something magical about cheering them on, even if you have no idea what they are doing!
Have a great weekend.

Glad to share your rambling post.
Wish you have a wonderful weekend.

OOHHH, I would also be in trouble at a good book shop as well!

I know it is a LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG,
LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG,
LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG, LONG,
LONG, LONG, LONG time away, but just think of how much fum you will have with granddaughters!

My stepsons both played flag football and it was so much fun to watch!
If you find any good books, please share your reviews!

Are you using a private tutor or a national chain? We used a private tutor during the school year but I’m going to try to find someone or someplace this summer in California.

When I read your blog, I always see a little bit of my future as a mom of boys. :-)

I’m glad you found a half-priced bookstore to spend your time in. :-)

You are too cute. What can a girl do with 2 hours to kill and a book store with a huge Christian book section? Only get in trouble.
I am so thrilled to read that you are having a great time cheering your boys on at flag-football.

Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life in FL :)

Be blessed today and always.
